Brandy Jemczura and Sarah Pirtle

Brandy Jemczura, MSW, LSW
co-executive director and founder

A former teacher and licensed social worker, Brandy quickly realized after having children that it was difficult for her to give of her time to the community with her kids present—and volunteer opportunities for her young children were far and few between. That’s when she got her big idea: an organization created specifically to engage children in meaningful service. And that’s when Seeds of Caring was born. Brandy brings to Seeds of Caring a rich background in education, social work, nonprofit programming and management, and an unmistakable passion for helping others learn to be helpers. When she’s not proudly waving her Seeds of Caring flag, Brandy enjoys heading out to the hiking trails with her husband and three kids, traveling, and curling up in her Clintonville home with a book and her (very large) dog Trooper.

Sarah’s professional life and personal passion finally collided when she joined the Seeds of Caring team—as her daily work combined seamlessly with her lifelong love for volunteering. Her former day jobs include marketing manager for a large Columbus nonprofit, senior copywriter for an award-winning branding agency, and brand strategist and creative consultant to both corporate and nonprofit clients. Her favorite volunteer roles have been serving as a Big Sister to a Columbus youth, a welcome team member for refugee families, and a volunteer event leader for Seeds of Caring prior to joining the organization’s staff. Outside of work, Sarah is most likely to be found looking for ways to simultaneously entertain her three children (all born within 38 months), spending time on her family’s boat, and advocating for ethical and open adoption.

Event Leaders

A team of trained Seeds of Caring volunteers brainstorms, plans, and runs the events we offer each month. We are grateful for their generous donation of time and talent, and proud to be able to offer events that are truly for the community—by the community.
